I am a documentary and underwater photographer, as well as an economic and coastal development expert, blending visual storytelling with data-driven impact analysis. Currently based between Brasilia, Bologna and Washington DC., my work explores the deep connections between people, the ocean, and the evolving landscapes they depend on.
For the past two decades, I have worked globally, leading conservation and market development initiatives for organizations such as USAID, the World Bank, FCDO, and AusAID. These experiences have shaped my approach to photography—seeing it not only as an art form but also as a tool for investigation, engagement, and change.
My primary focus is on coastal communities, marine conservation, and the blue economy, but my lens extends beyond nature. I use photography to document cultural and human stories, capturing the nuances of everyday life, resilience, and transformation. Whether following small-scale fishers navigating uncertain waters, diving into the fragile beauty of coral reefs, or uncovering economic shifts in coastal societies, my goal is to create compelling, human-centered narratives that spark conversation and action.
Beyond fieldwork, I also work in studio photography, crafting strong yet intimate visual stories for campaigns, fashion, and portraits. My studio work shares the same core philosophy as my documentary projects: subtle but powerful storytelling, where every image carries emotion and meaning.
As the founder of Marine Market Systems, I bridge the gap between project implementation, impact evaluation, community engagement, and visual storytelling. Our work goes beyond traditional reports—we blend data, photography, and immersive narratives to drive real change in the marine and coastal sectors.
Whether on land, underwater, or in the studio, I strive to create images that capture reality, challenge perspectives, and inspire action.
